How To Find Us
The Cross Guns at Avoncliff can be reached a number of ways. We are located at a point where the Kennet and Avon canal, the River Avon and the Bristol to Weymouth railway line all meet. Avoncliff is just a small hamlett with limited car parking (although there are car parks each side of the river). We recommend that you reach us by train, or during the day stopping at Bradford-on-Avon and taking a short (20 min) walk along the canal towpath.
How to find us:

Location Map:
By Car:
Avoncliff is reachable from either side of the valley and due to the fact cars cannot cross over the river, railway and canal there is a car park on each side. The easiest way to find us is to head towards Bradford-on-Avon, then either follow signs to Turleigh and once out of the town take the road on the left signposted to Avoncliff, or exit Bradford on the Frome Road (B3109), turn right to Westwood and once in Westwood follow signs to Avoncliff. The Westwood side has a larger car park, but involves going down a steep hill. Refer to the map above or alternatively enter your postcode to get step by step driving directions.
By Train:
Avoncliff has its own railway station, which is only a short 2 minute walk from the Cross Guns. Trains run regularly, at least one an hour to Bath, Bristol, Bradford-on-Avon and Trowbridge. Avoncliff is a request stop, so if alighting at Avoncliff you need to inform the conductor and if boarding the train at Avoncliff put your hand out to show the driver you want the train to stop.

By Foot or Bike:
Being located on the Kennet and Avon canal, the Cross Guns is a short and easy walk from Bradford-on-Avon taking about 20 - 30 minutes. Parking in the station car park in Bradford, you can begin your walk through Barton Farm, passing the Tithe Barn and continue along the riverside. You will then join the canal towpath, which will take you right into Avoncliff where you can't miss the Cross Guns. Further down the towpath will take you to Dundas Aqueduct and eventually Bath. There are many other walking and cycling routes in the area including our own Two Valleys Walk. The Cross Guns does have a bike park so cyclists are very welcome. We are located at OS grid reference ST 805 599.
By Boat:
The most tranquil way to reach the Cross Guns is by boat. Narrow boats and day boats are easily available to hire from a number of local marinas. Either side of the Aqueduct are temporary moorings, which allow you to stay up to 24 hours, nearby there are ample fortnightly moorings.
